I bought one early this year after buying my 91 300D 2.5T. It's a ~8.5x5.5
book about 1" thick filled with tech info about late models MBs. It covers
W124 starting 1/89, W126 1/89 to 6/91, W201 1/89 to 6/93, & W129, 140 & 202
as of start of production.
It covers all the systems - such as crankcase, head, crank assy, timing &
alves, combustion, diesel inj, carburation (!!), gas inject., LH, HFM & PMS
injection intake and turbo, belts, eng elect, eng lube, clutch, man trans,
AT, pedals, throttle control, suspension, axles, wheels/chassis, prop shaft,
steer., electr sys., body, locking syst., ACC, seats, paint, conv tables and
index.
Covered in each section are things such as - hmm..,, better to just say it
has the specs and dims for virtually everything on and in the cars. Incl
torques, color coding, sizes of fasteners, part numbers of many components,
and typical engine stuff such as speeds, firing orders, octane ratings,
bore/stroke, compression ratio, codes on cams, and on and on and etc.
It's very helpful if you do a lot of work yourself. I've spent a lot of
time flipping thru the pages just reading all the data.

Lots of good stuff here - even just reading down the list of models,
seeing all those neat cars that didn't make it to this side of the
pond, is interesting (170V pick-up, 300D Turbo 4-Matic).
The technical data books look interesting - anyone have one? Would you
write up a description of what's in it?
Santa might do some shopping here this year ----
