[MBZ] W126 power seat questions

As you know, I now have a 1983 300SD.  I need to remove the seats both to 
rework/replace the spring boxes and sort out the power seat mechanisms.  Are 
these done much like the W123 seats by sliding the seat forward or backward 
to get to the bolts?  If so, this is going to make it very tough since the 
power mechanism doesn't work.  Is there a way to work it by hand while the 
seat is still in the car?
