GM makes a top engine cleaner it is about $5 a quart. This is the greatest stuff in the world. The shop I worked at use to sell fuel injector cleaning machines and the cleaner. A cap full of the top engine cleaner in a quart of gas was better at cleaning the injectors than the $20 per bottle stuff.
I also use the top engine cleaner as well, top engine cleaner by running it down carburetor or intake. This will remove all the carbon, I do this on a 117 gasser and it will blow black smoke for several miles. I have also run it down the intake of my OM617, but you have to be careful as that too much will make engine run really fast.
