My '83 300D has a vacuum leak when the weather is cold, which stops when the weather is warm. The locks will operate when leaving the house, but after driving 12 miles to town in the cold air, the locks will not work. I'm not
sure which part to replace first in order to try and fix it. Tracing the
leak by testing one section at a time was unsuccessful; probably because the weather is not cold enough here in Florida to make it leak while the car is
not moving through the cold air.

Most vacuum leaks at rubber to plastic junctions only leak or leak much
worse when cold. Just isolate sections of the vacuum system and test
each section with a MityVac. When you find a leak, replace the piece of
rubber or plastic.
