Maryland registration is expensive ($180/2yrs?), but ALL diesels are exempt
from emissions tests in MD (period). Unfortunately we have mandatory
insurance, you you pay out at least one orifice for that. At least we dont
have to pay sales tax (yet) on the registration, or an annual property tax
(yet) on the vehicle itself (like say... certain areas of Virginia)

Mississippi is $50 lifetime registration for antique tag (>25 years
old), and there are no driving/mileage/etc restrictions. My 84 190d was
~$40 to register, and my 95 Mazda pickup is about $50 (both annually).
All vehicles are exempt from emissions. Annual $5 inspection sticker to
check lights, signals, wipers, horn, and windshield. Annual $5 tint
inspection sticker (if you have tint).

Unless I'm missing something... why is that unfortunately? Is it
mandatory comprehensive?
