Thank you Jim. Every time I try to test something electrical I find don't
have the patience or knowledge to test it. I always seem to get the wrong
readings or different results each time. It is like if I can't physically
see it, I can't comprehend it. Maybe that is why I like magic so much
Anyway, I pulled a used actuator from a 1981 380 SEL and installed it in the
240 and it now works great. The only thing I had to switch was the arm that
moves the throttle and the mount. It will make the trip from Whitehall to
Cincinnati much more enjoyable.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

Subject: Re: [MBZ] Cruise control Actuator
1983 240D - is there a way to test the Cruise Control Actuator. I
installed an new, rebuilt amplifier from Rusty and I am still having
problems. It engages but acts like the actuator doesn't have the
strength to accelerate. If I help it along gently with on the
accelerator it works fine. I have cleaned and lubed all of the
connections and joints with power steering fluid and if feels nice and
free. Any suggestions?
I have a diagnosis procedure, see:

You could try it, let me know what you think.
