The "pebble bed" technology is interesting to me. I hear China is into this in a pretty significant way. To read about it, it sounds a lot safer than traditional reactors -- I'm certainly not a nuclear engineer, but I do think that nuclear power is probably the only practical near-term alternative to fossil fuels.
