I'm on the road again! Put insurance and plates on my 76 115 300D and drove it
for the first time since Halloween,
last evening. Seems to have wintered alright in my garage. Was warm enough
today that I tried the AC at lunch and
it appears to be still working. I wondered about that. We switched to 134 last
summer with one of those basic kits
from Wal-Mart.

Needed another vehicle as my wife's Toyota Avalon has an issue and now so does
my F150 Supercrew. Front brakes
started grinding on my truck so changed out the front rotors and pads on
Sunday. Had a look at the back and
discovered I have leaking axle seals on both sides. Picked up more parts
yesterday but have not got them installed
yet. Enjoying the car instead.

Avalon has a problem with the coupling at the end of the steering shaft where
it meets the rack. It tries to seize
up. Did it a couple of years ago and I was not able to get the part quickly so
I soaked it and put it back on. Two
years later I have to do it again or find the part.

So, sometimes it is handy to have "spare" vehicles kicking around. Put plates
back on my old 4Runner and wife is
driving it. She won't touch the MB as she is afraid I would be upset if
something happened to it while she was
driving it.

Car seems to run as well as it did last fall. Started on the first try but had
to hold the accelerator down a bit
until it warmed a little.

Car lost a bit of anti freeze over the winter. A bit of a puddle under it so
will need to follow up on that. Same
thing happened the winter before and it does not seem to leak much in the
summer. Something that contracts with the
cold??

Plug on the oil pan leaking a drop or two as well. Changed the oil when I put
it away last fall. Will have to crawl
under and tighten a small bit. Bought a new pan and plug from Rusty last year
but never managed to get it installed
yet. A PO had obviously done the current pan some damage around the drain plug
as it is a bit dinged and has been
brazed.

Time to make another order from Rusty but got to look it over and decide what I
might need. Have never crawled
under far enough to seriously check out the flex disks in the drive shaft. That
is on my list to look at.

Got a new stereo for it for my birthday back in the winter so will have to see
about an install. Scared me today -
the current radio/tapedeck is intermittent and was not working this morning.
Coming back from lunch I turned a hard
left and it came on midcorner.
