Interesting about the oil cooler hoses. I figured that the vast majority of a 
model year's production would have come in the previous year. Guess not.

I believe that there were 300GDs made after that date.
My 1979 300SD had oil cooler hoses that were made in July 1979, so April doesn't
seem to be the end of a model year's production.

Is there any rule of thumb to use to estimate the life of a W124 water pump. 
My 91 300D 2.5T is on itz original pump at 130k and I'm wondering if now is 
a prudent time to replace it?
