Right-except if it was a w113 it could have been a 230-50-80SL, also acc. to
Nitske. However, he lists no 200SL at all.

As someone else has already intimated, the "rare Mercedes SL" which you saw,
if indeed it was a W107 body style, was a 280SL which were made from '74-'85
and not imported to the U.S. as far as I know (See pg. 140, "Mercedes-Benz
Production Models Book 1946-1990", by W. R. Nitske.
