I had Toni hold the brake, put the car in gear and rev it up a bit while I watched the driveshaft for movement..........It "tries" to turn it........Basically, the tranny is attempting to move the car but is not capable. How hard is it to inspect this mischeivous B2 piston? Can it be done still in the car?

There are really two different failure modes for the B2. Scenario 1
(most common) is that the B2 piston comes apart but continues to seal
the bore. It just kind of floats around in the bore, simulating the
"clutch half in" feeling. The lower the gear, the more affected.
Hitting the accellerator increases the working pressure, and
eventually the B2 is pushed into place. Scenario 2 is that the B2
piston comes apart and wedges in the bore. Nothing works but reverse.
You ain't goin' nowhere but back'ards.

If I'm correct in my diagnosis of my 300SD having a bad B2 piston, it never nade any strange noises. It started to flare between first and second, and
then suddenly it feels like you have the clutch halfway to the floor on a
stick shift. I have not had time to get under the car, and with my lack of experience working on them I'm a little hesitant to just unbolt the tranny
and give it a shot.
I don't have a clue what could be wrong with your car, but I don't think its
a b2. My reverse works great, second seems ok, 3 and 4 are just fine.
