I've noticed that my newer cars have had magnetic drain plugs on the oil pan, as well. Guess the idea is that microscopic bits of iron will stick there even if they would pass through the filter. Wouldn't do much for other metals, e.g. bronze bearings. Not sure if there's a significant benefit to this, really. Allan -- 1983 300D 1966 230
