So under this scenario (shorted aux. water pump), when I unplug the pump my
heat/cool modes will return to normal. Is this correct?

Such failures are _extremely_ common. Almost as bad as trying
a succession of used evil-chrysler-acc-servos-from-hell and deducing
that you have other problems because swapping didn't work. (I.e.,
good luck finding a good used one.)

The power for the monovalve can be sapped by a shorted auxiliary
water pump. Is that OK? You can unplug it, it's not like you'll
really need it. (Especially now.)
