Last fall when I put the motorcycles away my wife's bike wouldn't start at all,
in fact nothing would happen, no headlights, nothing.
Today I finally got around to really working on it. Put the battery back in and
it was where I'd left it. I poked around, replaced a fuse holder I didn't like
the look of and then by chance put the meter across the battery.
8v, well thats no good.
Put the charger on but it didn't seem like it was taking any charge. Tried the
key while the charger was on, headlights work, starter engages but doesn't have
the oomph to kick over... Interesting.
So I think the deal is that the battery is too small for my charger to put much
power in quickly. I'll let it charge for an hour and then see whats what...
Remember, check the stupid stuff first.

OK,

Was driving the kid back from the gym and while playing slug a bug, I
noticed that there was a deep bass thrumming up front. Sounded a
bunch like the noise the rear flex disk made. Went away at lower
speeds but resonance came back. Not related to turning, hard to
figure out if it was only speed or gear related.

Got home and up on the ramps. Wiggle under and get coolant in the
eye. THAT hurts! Seems one of the heat exchanger hoses was dead.
Found some oil leakage around the oil pan. Grab the hex set and give
each pan bolt a tweak back and then tight again. We will see how
that works. Grovel around the bins of parts and snip off a bit of
hose and install, then fill a few liters into the radiator. No
leaking now.

Got too dark to go on, so will have to tackle the thrumming. Anybody
know or have a wild @$$ guess?
