Here in MA anyway gas is now $0.15-$0.25 a gallon more expensive than diesel.
Even my friend with a Prius respects my 190D...

Diesel seems to be more spike resistant than gas. They definately play by 
different rules...
Gas may stabilze here in a week or two with refining capacity coming back. I 
don't think it will go down with the driving season coming on. I think diesel 
may rise a bit but I don't think it'll break $3.

Interestingly the recent price rise seems to have gotten people to conserve. I 
hear where demand has softened somewhat.

Completely off topic, but today Gas prices were hovering at $3.50-ish
a gallon, and diesel was at $2.88 .... very rare I see diesel below
gas.

WIlton,

I think I missed something.  Why is your trans pronounced dead?  You 
said there is a delay in shifting into reverse.  TO me that is 
normal, at least for trans with 100k to 200k or more.  You also said 
that sometimes you need to rev the engine a little to get the shift 
into reverse.  I've had that condition too, for years without a 
failure.  A little frustrating, but no cause to spend 2-3k dollars 
that I can see.

Maybe I have just had dumb luck.  I know peace of mind probably means 
more to you than the money.  I can appreciate that.

I read constatine's description of checking and topping off the 
ATF.  That is a good procedure`, and if the fluid level is correct, 
you may also have a vacuum problem.  If you were on the other 
coast,  I'd take it to Sun Valley and let them diagnose it.
