Prior to the 123, all the manual trans took ATF. I don't know about
123 and later, cause i've never had any of them. I rebuilt a 200D
trans that had 90W Hypoid in it.

tranny in my 83 240D. I remember that for a year or two? MB switched their
recommendation to ATF? Then switched back to 30W motor oil? Or was it
opposite this?
I just want to put the best possible thing in there to make my little tranny
happy.
