The home Powder coat system needs approx 425F. While I;m limited to small projects, I have a toaster oven which works for the home system. I just don't have room for a full-sized oven - higher temps is not necesssary - at least for my small jobs. I assume a large item would drop the temp when it first enters the oven and the oven would need to recover to the 425 needed. So I think heat recovery time is more critical than max high temp.

I see a host of old stoves for free on CL and am sure you could shove
one in the garage with a huge extension cord to your dryer plug in.
Bound to be able to reach at least 500* for a few hours as needed.
Also will not upset SWMBA by baking your own wheels and brownies out
there.

A coworker used a kit he obtained fron Eastwood to powder coat 4 old
ratty aluminum wheels. They came out VERY nice.

Remember you have to have ability to bake at about 400 degrees.
