A gas engine will eat you out of house & home. They constantly need
*something* - no matter how nice or how well maintained. Let them get a little
behind on maintanence and thangs can get ugly (financially speaking) pretty
fast. I had a few gas MBs and all were the same. $25 for this, $100 for that,
$10 for this, $500 for that - constantly needing a little here and a little
there.

That may not be a problem for you - and a big gas W126 is unequalled in comfort
and security on the open road (unless you find a W140) - but just be prepared
for a healthy maintanence program, especially with over 200K on the clock.
Personally, I would not consider a gas engine with over 150K unless I was
getting it cheap enough so I could rebuild it and not be unside-down.

I just don;t think I'd feel confident it would always get me home with so many
miles on it.

But they're awesome cars when you're behind the wheel and you covering
interstate at 80mph+ in near silence except for the stereo. But I'd feel
better in a diesel.

Good luck -
