Also I believe the high side and low side valves are different, to prevent consumers from accidentally connecting a recharge can to the high side. This was possible in R12 systems and led to injuries as the can would explode under pressure.
This was possible in _some_ R12 systems, but some later ones had different sized fittings to prevent this. I have an adapter or two that I use for this car and that. -- Jim
