I added keyless entry to an 83 300SD.  I put a solenoid in the door to raise
and lower the driver's side lock as if someone in the car were doing it.
This then contacts the switch in the door (in the same manner as if someone
unlocked the doors) and the trunk pump kicks on and does the other doors,
trunk, tank.

It's easy.  Everything since the 123 has had electric pumps on the
vacuum/pressure locks.  Installation of keyless on them is nearly

(For a 201 it'd all be under the back seat, but otherwise the same.)

No.  Just check it out.  Chain and flex disk replacement are _good_
signs.
