The strange thing is that that was the last customs check we did, went through half a dozen checks before that. Also nowhere did I read that things like inflated footballs are a customs no no.

I guess now that communism is wearing an expensive business suit and driving a big Benz they have to find something else to scare the masses with, otherwise the people might wake up and figure out who the true enemy is.

I dpn't know about your side of the planet, but over here compressed
gasses are verboten. They probably didn't want it to pop at altitude.
We have to deflate our bicycle tires too, and can't carry CO2 inflators.
Always fun pumping up the tires in the lobby with a mini-pump so you
can leave the airport.
