There was a gray 300SD bouncing and clattering away at a red light here in downtown Portland the other day. My first thought was "Let me work on that thing!!" Some Diesel purge and an Italian Tune-up would be good, and if that didn't do it, $400 for rebuilt injectors plus recalibration along with a valve adjustment would have done a world of difference. Man, I can't wait until I have a garage again!
