Check for flatness -- I'd bet the head is warped in that area. I didn't find any cracks on my -14- head either, and it still leaks compression (not oil) into the coolant.
Once I get the "rebuilt" head I got of eBay repaired again (all the valves are undersize and rattle in the guides, which I'm sure are way oversize), I'll do the swap.
