I'm going to talk to the guy and set up a time to have a "look" (a feel) at the car. I had a non-running '73 220D that I bought for $100 with a decent body and a rusted trunk floor, but I decided to sell it before even trying a valve adjustment to see if it was due to the intake valves being too tight. It didn't have any funky noises in the engine, so I could have had a runner. I later bought the wrenches, the best investment i've made yet.
