On the other hand how many of us have owned cars where a "PO"
butchered something or other in his attempt to "fix" it.

Theres a time and place for pros, and when they are needed they are
worth paying for.  Note, by "pro" I am not referring to the 18 year
old wrench yanker at [insert your franchise auto repair service here].
