Buy LG from Home Depot (or buy.com believe it or not) We just bought a pair to replace a 10 year old top load/dryer, and my wife researched every make and model before she decided on the LG. They have the best customer satisfaction and I must say, we are very impressed with them. Not only do they save water, they save detergent, and do a better job.
We paid about $50 a month for water, and the washer was probably half that. The front load uses 1/3 the water of top load, so 50/2 = $25, 25/3 = $8.33, or a savings of $16.67 each month. That over the next 10 years is over $2,000, and that is more then we paid for the washer and dryer. Our bills come every three months, so I will soon know if these numbers work out. Mercedes Content and added bonus - the washer and dryer cost more then at least 3 Mercedes I have bought, so I have leverage next time I see a deal.
