I will check the wheel bearings on both front wheels.

BTW, I Love those old W108s!!  Owned several a few years back - a '69 S and 
my favorite a '73 SE 4.5 - and absolutely awesome machine even though ot got 
terrible gas mileage.  Would love a W140 6 cyl turbo diesel (factory 
reconditioned in a 108 SEL body in artic silver with dark windows  - then 
have AMG tweak the engine for more power.  ;-)
