Consider the history of the 1911 .45 and its flawless performance in the military and there isn't much out there that can compete. I managed to get my hands on a postwar 1911 and I have to admit there is no question why it was so popular. As a happy medium though I prefer my .40 Sig as a home defense weapon simply because its easier to shoot and just as effective.
