The early jap trucks were rated for 1/4 ton.....The VW had them beat by
100 pounds........

Was a big deal when Toyota started bragging about thier 1/2 ton rating! 
HAH!!

Better mileage from the VW loaded than any of the other models offered at
the time empty.
