You;re right - there are people out there who spend $40k for a car and figutre it shouldn;t need anymore money fed to it when it costs that much! I actually had a car owner tell me that when he called looking for sheepskins IIRC. We got to talking and I mentioned the importance of changing oil and filter - to which he replied, "I paid $83000 for this 500SEL (or similar) and I never open the hood. At $80+K it should never need anything!" and he was serious!
I liked what Tom said (I think it was Tom) who puts much of his scrutiny on the interior - and if the dog chewed on it, the mechanical stuff was probably trashed also - or something similar - That's a very good way to look a used cars condition -- Later - Larry T (67 MGB, 74 911, 78 240D, 91 300D) www.youroil.net for Oil Analysis and Weber Parts Test Results http://members.rennlist.com/oil PORSCHE POSTERS! youroil.net Weber Carb Info http://members.rennlist.com/webercarbs . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Zoltan Finks" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2007 6:07 AM Subject: [MBZ] Diesel bulletproofness >I always wonder about this too when I hear of diesel Benzes with new > engines at 100 -something thousand miles. > > I think that diesel engines are tougher and do in fact last longer > than gassers, but I think that they do not have invulnerability to > poor maintenance.
