GMail, like most other webmail services, does not offer any "received
receipt" and "read receipt" features. Normally, standard email rules
imply that if a Delivery Failure Notification has not been received,
the message has been delivered to the intended recipient.

Some email clients, like MS Outlook, offer a "read receipt" feature
which can provide such notifications, provided that the recipient also
uses the same email client and has enabled or allowed the "receipt" to
be transmitted to the sender! In this case it is more of a worry as
the sender will never know, if he has enabled the "read receipt"
feature and does not receive one in return, whether the mail was (a)
not received, (b) received but not read, (c) received and read but the
"receipt" was disallowed by the recipient!

So it is better to go with general email standards which, to prevent
unnecessary mail traffic, imply that failure to receive any of the
Delivery Status notifications (Failed, Delayed, etc.) means the
message being successfully received by the recipient.
