I think that Craig is correct in suggesting that politics are best left off
the list mailings.
I have some pretty strong leanings myself and I know others here agree with
me, and others lean just as far and further the other way. One of the more
interesting things I have done this past year is to start a breakfast group
that is made up of a couple of strongly liberal types and a couple of
strongly conservative types plus a few moderates. After a few months I
discovered that the statements that we used to make among our 'choir' ceased
to be so absolute because we knew we were going to be called to back up
every statement, and ones like Craig is referring to got a 'how do you
justify that statement in light of.'. There was a good deal of `back
peddling' on both sides for a few weeks before we settled down a bit. It is
very hard to do that sort of thing in this sort of forum, so I vote with
Craig - though suspect we vote would vote differently on some other things.
