Rusty, Sorry to hear of your loss but at least he could talk about the war. All three of my Uncles fought in WW2 & all three have been gone for a while now. Two of them told some great stories while one refused to discuss the subject.
My youngest Son was on the ground during the last Iraq war - he supported one of the air wings. I'm just now hearing about some of the stuff he was involved in. How weird it was reading letters from my grandfather that I never met. Wow. Quite an experience. He was a mechanic in the Army (what a coincidence).
