We have a 98 F150 short box regular cab 4X4 with the 4.2 V6 and a manual 5 speed. About 125K miles on it now. Bought it used with about 102K miles on it. So far, a starter, an alternator and the biggy, a clutch. The clutch was not worn out but the slave cylinder leaked and it is too much labout to go in there without doing the clutch at the same time. Otherwise so far so good.
We also have an 02 F150 Supercrew 4X4 with the 5.4 V8. Bought it a year ago with about 90K miles and it is now at about 106K miles. Have done nothing on it but brakes that I can recall. I like them both. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another. The next is tomorrow night. Now its way high miles (like 190,000) but I'm thinking as a chase vehicle most of that would be relatively low speed highway stuff. Anyway I'm gonna go give it a look tomorrow, if its in decent shape I figure to put $1500 on it. I'll keep my Dakota for the moment to see how things shape up.
