What should really be getting poked fun of are the utterly pointless "Hybrid SUV's" .....so what, they get 1 mpg better economy and suddenly that's environmentally sound? So 18 mpg is brutal but 19 in a hybrid is great? Balls! Coming back to North America, in car terms, is like stepping back 15 or so years in a time machine. Yes, that's how it feels to me. All these horrible gas-guzzlers and their oblivious owners waiting at completely unnecessary traffic lights. UGH! The only diesel I've heard in the last month has been the noisy giant pickup trucks.... My Audi A4 1.9 TDI gets wonderful mileage in a safe comfortable, stylish car. (not sure about reliability yet). Back home, everything's diesel! Jeep Liberty's (yuck), Dodge Caravans (why bother?) you name it.
