Technically true and I might add quite selfish. Don's driving a larger vehicle
makes him more likely to KILL someone in the event of a crash.
Ever think of it that way?

Never-the-less in honor of the late Gary Gygax I'd like to try something
different with this subject.

Any time you get in an accident its a crapshoot. You roll the dice and get what
you get.
However this is an awful lot like hit calculations in D&D, you take your base
survivablity. Lets use me as an example.
So lets give me a 10 to start with. I always wear my seatbelt, give me a +1 for
that. I tend to drive defensively and I don't go super fast, my motorcycling
also causes me to look farther ahead and plan for trouble, give me another +1
for all that.
I'm fairly young and in reasonably good shape, so lets give me another +1.
My 190D is a reasonably safe car, lets call it +5. That gives me a total of 18.

Now lets consider my mother, she's in her early 60s with a history of heart
diesease -1. She's badly overweight, another -1. She doesn't pay super good
attention while driving -1 and hasn't taken any extra driving courses so
another -1.
She drives a Jeep Liberty, airbags etc, lets give her +7 for that just because.
So 10 plus 7 for the Jeep, minus 4 is 13.

Now, at 0 you die. Based on this highly unscientific and foolish theory we can
see that even driving a +1 car like a Kia Rio just takes me down to match my
mom's level...

As for Don, I don't wanna hear any bitchin we TOLD you when you bought the fool
thing. Anybody thinks gas is going down any great leap in the next 4-6 months
needs to put down the crack pipe for a minute and catch up to reality.
I don't give a damn why gas prices are what they are, thats a whole nother
debate but they're up there and they aren't moving just because we'd like 'em
to.

Just tell yourself that the extra cost is life insurance. If you get
hit in the Expedition your chances may be
better than if you are in the Honda Civic.

Randy - who just knows someone is going to argue about that statement
