Bob R. "Mine is a little worse than that paint wise. Which lead me to ask: how badly oxidized can paint be and be saved by a clay bar? I've never used one. The AZ sun has taken its toll on the flat surfaces of the car. Very oxidized/faded looking but in tact. Would a clay bar help this out?"
I have used a clay bar and it will help for oxidation. BUT, it is really better as removing surface contaminants rather than oxidized paint. It also takes a tremendous amount of work. If it were me, I would try hand waxing it first with a cleaner wax like mequiar's or some other wax that has a mild abrasive (that is safe for clear coats). Then, use a good quality wax (I bought some wax called "Gold Class" and it worked great.) IF all that does not work, you can always have it professionally buffed. Someone who knows how to use a high speed buffer can work wonders on tired paint. Donald H.
