Hi Don, Agreed - this is definately a scam. I considered a 95 911 (993) that was supposedly in Italy for$20k - value was approx twice that. His story was he shipped the car there to drive and found it was too expensive to register and insure - he was ship it to an airport near me where I'd evaluate it and pay the balance - the CarFax report came back clean so he must have stolen a VIN from an ad on ebay -
Anyway - he wanted a $500 deposit before shipping. I suspect he figured people buying a car like this would write off the $500 and not worry about it. When I said a friend lived in Italy and would come by to take a look at the car (and pay if need be) & pick it up for me he stopped replying. *always* a sure sign of a scam -- Larry T (66 MGB, 74 911, 91 300D) www.youroil.net for Oil Analysis and Weber Parts Test Results http://members.rennlist.com/oil PORSCHE POSTERS! youroil.net 800-583-8601 Weber Carb Info http://members.rennlist.com/webercarbs ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donald Snook" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2008 10:29 AM Subject: [MBZ] car sale scams >I think I am aware of most of the scams about car sales.
