Agreed - this is definately a scam.  I considered a 95 911 (993) that was 
supposedly in Italy for$20k - value was approx twice that.  His story was he 
shipped the car there to drive and found it was too expensive to register 
and insure - he was ship it to an airport near me where I'd evaluate it and 
pay the balance - the CarFax report came back clean so he must have stolen a 
VIN from an ad on ebay -

Anyway - he wanted a $500 deposit before shipping.  I suspect he figured 
people buying a car like this would write off the $500 and not worry about 
it.  When I said a friend lived in Italy and would come by to take a look at 
the car (and pay if need be) & pick it up for me he stopped replying. 
*always* a sure sign of a scam --
