On a slightly related note I've heard lots of people say the 2.8l v6 GM used in
the S trucks was no good but my '88 GMC S15 went 150,000+ with no serious
engine issues.
Sure it didn't have squat for power (better than my 190D 2.2l though) but it
did get 25mpg pretty consistantly. I'd have another one in a heartbeat if I
could find one that wasn't all rusted out.
