All,

I've offered my Mercedes 300SDL car for sale to the group in the past & have
no problem telling you about the issues that I know of. At least you aren't
buying an unknown that someone is trying to pawn one off on you. I am really
interested in trading for another Mercedes - a decent 123 body 240D 4 speed
or a early 70s 220D 4 speed. $1500 is a fair price when considering the
issues with the car.

Here's all I know about the car:

It has at least a bad head gasket & possibly a bad head. But I've driven the
car for 150,000 miles with the issue & as long as I keep a sealer in the
radiator there seem to be no symptoms.

The car has a rebuilt title, not a salvaged title. "Rebuilt" means that the
car had a salvaged title, was repaired by a reputable shop & inspected by
the state. But most forget that a car is totaled by an insurance company
because the damage has exceeded 70% of its value and that older cars are
totaled for relatively minor damage. Also, shops who rebuild these Mercedes
can only afford to rebuild older cars with relatively minor damage.

The lower oil pan was shattered & welded back together - not by me. Possibly
part of the reason it was totaled?

The left, front caliper sticks & needs rebuilding. It's not bad enough to
cause the brakes to bind but it is bad enough to wear the inside pad twice
as fast as the others.

The interior is complete & is in fair condition. The lower part of the front
seat covers have pulled out of the frames.

I hit a deer at 80 MPH a few years ago. I pulled off the interstate,
expecting to find a mangled fender. Instead, there is some damage to the
plastic headlight surround & the driver door is slightly pushed in where she
spun around & hit the door. She did not fare so well & was turned into deer
burger by the truck that was behind me. So, my score is Mercedes - 1, Doe -
0.

The AC was converted to 134a by me & the last time I ran the car, it worked.

Thanks,
Tom Hargrave
