Venkat, Are you sure it is returning 273 or 284?
I guess it returns 255 characters. In Excel ADODB, if a cell contains more than 255, then it should be defined in first row itself, I mean the first row should have more than 255 for that particular cell. Excel is not a relational database, all data types will be defined from first ten rows' data only. I hope this is helpful.
