It's picking up a depth 32 visual. You can work around it by setting the
environment variable XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 for glxgears.
Same problem exist with mplayer, when using llvmpipe movie is displayed
with transparency and you can see the desktop in background.
This problem is also fixed by setting oh the environment variable
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS to 1.
