Hi!

We're about to merge the texmem-0-3 branch with the Mesa trunk. This
will currently only affect the i915 driver.

To make the new i915 driver work after the merge one has to obtain the
latest xserver git, the latest xf86-video-intel git, the latest drm /
libdrm git and an updated linux agp module from
git://git.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/linux-agp-compat/

Which should work with 2.6 kernel series.

The 6.5.1 i915 3D driver will still work with these components, and we
have two options with the 6.5.2 i915 driver:

1) Replace the old driver. People wanting to use Mesa 6.5.2 with the
i915 driver will have to upgrade the above components.

2) Give the new driver another name, i915tex_dri.so and have a 2D driver
option to choose which driver to use. This might create a maintainance
problem but the transition will be smoother.

Do we have any opinions about which way to go?
Anyone strongly opposing removing the old i915 driver?

/Thomas
