I also modified slang_codegen.c and slang_emit.c which gave some debug info but also caused an assertion to fail at slang_codegen.c:757. I turned this #if back off, and got some info then a segfault. I've attached the diff between the wrong and right runs up till the segfault but as I don't fully understand what I'm looking at (or why it now segfaults) I'm not sure if it's what you were after.
