This branch lifts the performance of softpipe to roughly the same
ballpark as where the Mesa software rasterizer has been, though perhaps
not for the super-simple stuff like gears.

The real performance work now is in Jose's llvmpipe, into which this
branch fed a bunch of code and ideas, but which is now clearly moving
beyond this early work.

Softpipe remains a good place to try out new code, without having to
deal too much with the issues of runtime code generation, etc, and I
will probably continue doing some experimental work here as time allows.

Thanks to Brian and Vinson for finding and fixing many bugs introduced
on this branch.

Keith
