why not just integrate with OTR and use OTR's public keys?
This would skip the auth step for all people that already
set up OTR with each other. You can as a side effect enhance
the UX of OTR by allowing chatrooms to socially share other
people's OTR keys to you: Once you have established OTR with
the captain, your OTR key repository grows by all of the
chatroom's members - so you can start a conversation with
any of them rightaway, given you trust your captain.
It is a quick and easy hack to enhance OTR given that mpOTR
seems to be a neverending ivory tower project.
Btw, what is the difference to SILC's approach?
