before (e.g. at local.conf) you will need to override it with
something like:
SERIAL_CONSOLE_forcevariable = "..."
Or probably more practically, use the machine override. This way you
could define multiple serial console values for different machines.
e.g.
SERIAL_CONSOLE_zcu102-zynqmp = "a"
SERIAL_CONSOLE_other-machine = "b"
