You could probably just poke your nose around the Web, like many of us 
wind up doing to find answers to our unnanswerable questions.  I seem to 
recall some discussion a while back about using MCI to control QuickTime, 
but that QT wasn't MCI compliant or something.  I could be wrong.  
Anyway, I do have a pretty huge document that explains the MCI structure 
and syntax, and a quick glance didn't see much directly related to 
disk-based digital video (plenty for laserdisc control hopwever).  I 
would guess you might make use of the basic media commands (play, pause, 
stop, etc) to do what you want.  If you'd like a copy of the (300K) 
document, let me know offlist.
