Multi-engine CD distribution

So I know how to author Mac/PC CDROm hybrids, but is it possible to format a
CD in such a way as it will play on a number of Unix platforms as well?

In other words what do I need to do to distribute a single disk, which will
play without any installation required on as many platforms as possible?
