Greetings all,
Each day I overhear me colleague grumbling about the shortcomings of
Director. He loves Flash, and has done some terrific things with it,
but seems consistently frustrated by Director, especially with Lingo.
On several occasions I've suggested we try doing it in MetaCard. But
that got me thinking about a suggestion for a future version of MC:
the expansion of the player object to include flash movies. I know
that Flash movies can be played using QT, but that's not the same
thing. QuickTime currently supports only Flash 3 files, and doesn't
support any of Flash's scripting.
My thinking is this: let Flash do what it does best and just (ha!
"just") bring that capability into MetaCard. If MC could accept
messages and variables from a Flash movie, you could create a
complete interactive environment *with top-notch animation.* With
that capability, using MC over Director, at least in our shop, would
be a no-brainer!
